Standardized Bee Propolis
Outstanding research is the
foundation of all Laprell’s Beehive Products Inc. processing operations.
The POS Pilot Plant Corp. in
Saskatoon played a major role in providing scientific, analytical and technical support in the
development of Laprell’s Standardized Propolis Products.
The care that has been put into the
development of these products is apparent in the unrivaled quality of Laprell’s Standardized
Propolis Products.
We are committed in providing to
the consumer always products with the same high quality, purity and potency. We are dedicated to
continue to expand our line of products to meet the lifestyle and needs of our customers.
Propolis, a natural product of the honeybee with a broad range of
medicinal applications – Made in Saskatchewan
Propolis is a resinous substance
collected by bees from leaf buds and exudates of trees and conifers. The bees modify the original
resin composition to produce the Propolis and use it as a sealing agent and to keep the growth of
microbes in the beehive under control. It is said, that the interior of a beehive is one of the
most sterile environments in nature.
Although the chemical composition
of Propolis is very complex, the properties of Propolis have shown
extensive antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, cytotoxic, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant
effects. Because of these biological properties, Propolis has been shown to have outstanding value
to mankind for a wide variety of illnesses and maladies.
What does Bee Propolis contain?
More than 200 individual compounds
have been established as the constituents of Propolis.
One half of the propolis
compositions are so called polyphenols:

Phenolic acids (vanillic,
salicylic, cinnamic, p-coumaric, ferulic, caffeic), their esters, coumarins and bio-flavonoids
(flavones, flavonols, flavanones, dihydroflavonols and isoflavones).
Aside from this high concentration
of polyphenols propolis contains resins, balsams, waxes, fatty acids, etheric oils, 16 amino acids,
which have been identified, all the known vitamins except vitamin K and all the minerals the human
body requires for normal function, except sulfur. These are all natural and balanced by nature (The
plants and the bees). Polyphenols are the most abundant and the best studied class of
chemical constituents of Propolis, which provide pharmacological and very powerful antioxidant
properties to the composition.
What is Propolis used for?
The ancient Greeks, Romans and
Egyptians were very much aware of the healing properties of Propolis and made extensive use of it
as a medicine.
In the last decade many research
projects and clinical investigations have been undertaken on the prophylactic and therapeutic
properties of propolis and of the polyphenols it contains.

What makes Laprell’s Standardized Bee Propolis Tincture unique?
Laprell’s Standardized Bee Propolis
Tincture is unique in that it is completely water soluble and non-sticky. It is also
unique in its composition: a uniform, potent and pure multiple propolis extract,
standardized to contain consistent levels of polyphenolics, which has a broader range of
benefits than any single propolis extract.
In-depth analyses and continuous
research is the foundation of all Laprell’s processing operations. Our team of scientists is
closely linked to the University of Saskatchewan. We also have close ties with Innovation Place,
a leading research centre for agricultural biotechnology; Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada; the
National Research Council; the Saskatchewan Research Council; the Protein Oil and Starch Pilot
Plant; and the Food Centre.
Most of the products on the
market reveal only the percentage of raw propolis or refined resin of the propolis present. This
does not say anything about the makeup or the potency of the active ingredients. The results from
the use of these types of products are inconsistent, because products vary significantly in
consistency, potency, quality and purity.
Thus one brand’s 10% strength
product may be more effective than another brand’s 30% strength product due to its variety and
volume of polyphenols.
Laprell’s leading the way in that
we have introduced a revolutionary new Canadian standard to help you buy the most beneficial
product for you. We clearly show the amount of polyphenols that each propolis product contains.
Propolis is a natural product and
as such the bioactive compounds of raw propolis collected vary widely. It is therefore very
important to us to offer always a uniform, potent, standardized product for medicinal purposes of
the same high quality and percentage of active compounds (especially the polyphenolics).
Laprell’s developed a very
efficient and high quality process to extract and fractionate the bioactive compounds from raw
propolis. We use multiple propolis extracts with different solvents, which are standardized and
blended, capturing all the beneficial active compounds in propolis and preserving its potency for
long periods of time.
Such, the final tincture has a
broader range of benefits than any single propolis extract, which is only possible through the
synergistic action of all the elements working together.
The end result is a uniform,
potent and pure tincture which has not only anti-bacterial and anti-viral but also a very high
antioxidant capacity that exceeds that of grape seed and bilberry extract on a dry weight basis.
Our Commitment
At Laprell’s Beehive Products,
we believe that the safety, quality and efficacy of a food product are a direct result of the
amount of care and attention that is being used during the manufacturing process.
A strict quality assurance program
is carried out at every step of manufacture by third party, independent laboratories.
Beginning with selecting only top
quality raw Propolis (which undergoes numerous tests) from Canadian beekeepers in pristine regions,
every step of production is quality controlled to guarantee a uniform, potent and pure product.
